Zicam Lawsuit

Overview
A drug that is intended to help decrease the time it takes to get over a cold and the its symptoms. Zicam gel is applied to the nose and is the only Zicam product that is known to cause the below side effects. The zicam cold remedy has so far been fairly popular with profits at the end of 2003 being totaling over $13.4 million.

Side effects
Zicam has been linked to anosmia which is a condition that can cause loss of smell and taste. Dr. Bruce Jafek, from the Taste and Smell Disorders Center has found that at least 12 other people have experience this loss of taste and smell.

"There's no doubt in my mind there's a cause and effect,"
"Just because I took it, it burned like crazy. The next day I didn't have any sense of smell."
-Linda Bayley

The loss of smell with Zicam can be both temporary or permenent. This can of course cause a great deal of trauma for victims.

Zicam Recall
A recall of the Zicam drug is unlikely because it is a homeopathic treatment the FDA cannot do much about it.

Lawsuits
The Kahn Gauthier Law Group is seeking to file a lawsuit for people that have experienced a loss of smell and taste. If you believe that you have been lost your sense of taste or smell as a result of Zicam then see an attorney as quickly as possible.

October 14, 2003 - Dennis and Debra Christensen of Almena, Michigan, filed suit against the marketers of Zicam Cold Remedy Nasal Gel. The claim was made that the zicam side effects were very severe and was marketed incorrectly.
